FoLix™ Laser: What to Do Before and After Your Session

FoLix Laser outline at scalp
Summary

Getting the most from your FoLix session starts before you walk in the door. Arrive with clean, dry, completely product-free hair — this is non-negotiable for safe treatment. Avoid recent sun exposure, tanning, and photosensitizing medications where possible. After your session, most normal activities are fine right away, but give your scalp 24 hours before sweaty workouts or topical treatments, and five days before any chemical hair services. Some mild pinkness or warmth is normal and fades quickly. Following these steps protects the scalp and lets the laser's regenerative work do what it's supposed to do.

Laser Hair Restoration, powered by FoLix™, is a powerful treatment that delivers controlled heat energy to your follicles to activate your body’s natural healing response. Following these simple steps will help you have a smooth and effective Laser treatment.

Day Of Session

Arrive with clean, dry hair, free of product
This includes dry shampoos, styling products, fibers, etc. We have a hair dryer on site to dry any sweat.

Pause the use of topical hair treatments like minoxidil, serums, or scalp exfoliants the day-of treatment.

Bring a hat to protect your scalp/hairline post-treatment.

2 Weeks Before Session

No major sun exposure
No active sunburns, tanning, or major sun exposure at the scalp/hairline in the last two weeks.

No photosensitizing meds or antibiotics
Examples include doxycycline, minocycline, tetracycline, certain anti-fungal medications. No isotretinoin (Accutane) use for 6 months. Consult with your physician/prescriber before pausing any medications.

No scalp irritation, tenderness, or sores
Areas of treatment should be healthy and calm.

Immediately After Your Session

You can resume most daily activities immediately, including gently rinsing or styling your hair.

Light redness or warmth is normal. This may last several hours, but fades quickly. Some clients experience warmth in treatment areas for a few hours, like a mild sunburn.

Avoid direct sun exposure. Wear a clean hat and/or sunscreen at the hairline.

Avoid picking, scratching, or scrubbing. Keep your treatment area clean and unbothered.

Avoid For 24 Hours After

Sweaty, Vigorous Workouts These raise the risk of bacteria and discomfort.

Pools & Saunas  To keep the scalp clean and free of potential infection, avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga, or other excessive sweating.

Topical Treatments  Pause the use of topical hair treatments like minoxidil, serums, or scalp exfoliants.

Haircuts  Avoid a haircut that may touch your scalp/treatment area, especially a men's cut where clippers may abrade and irritate the treatment area.

Avoid For 48 Hours

Intense Hair Treatments / Coloring — Including dyes/coloring, bleaching, relaxing, and high-heat treatments.
