Preparing For Treatment
Scalp / Hair Preparation
Arrive with clean and dry hair, free of any hair products (including dry shampoo, sunscreens, fibers, etc.) This is an absolute must for safe treatment. You can wear a hat to the studio, over dry hair.
Arrive makeup-free in the treatment area, primarily the forehead/hairline
Do not arrive with a sweaty scalp post-exercise
Do not apply topical scalp treatments the day of your treatment such as serums, topical minoxidil, etc.
No active scalp itchiness, tenderness, or sores in the area of treatment
No hair coloring/high-heat treatments within 5 days of your treatment
Recent Sun Exposure
No active sunburns or deep tans within the last two weeks
No artificial self-tanner on forehead or scalp within the past week
Avoid photosensitizing medications for 7 days prior when possible (if medically appropriate to do so; consult your prescriber). Examples include doxycycline, minocycline, tetracycline, isotretinoin (Accutane) for 6 months, certain antifungal medications.
Bring a hat to protect your scalp post-treatment.
After Treatment
You can resume most daily activities immediately, including gently rinsing or styling your hair. Your treated areas may look slightly pink in treated areas for several hours. This fades quickly and isn't noticeable to others. Some patients experience very mild warmth in treatment zones for a few hours.
Avoid scratching, picking, pressing, or vigorously scrubbing your scalp
Avoid direct sun exposure on treatment areas. Apply sunscreen and/or wear a hat
For 24 Hours
Avoid sweaty, strenuous workouts for 24 hours
Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga, or other excessive sweating for 24 hours to keep the treatment area from becoming 'hot' and irritated
Avoid the use of topical hair treatments like minoxidil, serums, or scalp exfoliants for 24 hours
For 2-5 Days
For 2 days, avoid a haircut that may touch your scalp/treatment area, especially a men's cut where clippers may abrade and irritate the treatment area
For 5 days, avoid chemical hair treatments, including dyes, bleaching, relaxing, and high-heat treatments
