Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a powerful treatment that uses your body's own healing abilities to stimulate hair growth. Because the main ingredient in your treatment is your own biology, it's important to arrive for your appointment as healthy and hydrated as possible. Following these simple guidelines helps ensure we can draw the highest quality blood and prepare the most potent plasma for your treatment.

The Day of Your Treatment

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water. We recommend at least 8-10 glasses the day before and at least 2 glasses on the day of your appointment. Good hydration makes your blood draw easier and improves the quality of your plasma.

  • Eat a Normal Meal: Have a healthy meal before you come in. This ensures you feel well and your blood sugar is stable for the blood draw.

1 Day Before Your Treatment

  • Avoid Alcohol: Steer clear of alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours before your session. Alcohol can thin the blood and increase the likelihood of bruising at the injection sites.

3 Days Before Your Treatment

  • Avoid Certain Medications: Stop taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Advil, Aleve, Motrin, and Naproxen. These can interfere with the platelet function we are trying to harness.

  • Avoid Blood-Thinning Supplements: Pause supplements known to thin the blood. This includes Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Ginko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), and Turmeric.

  • Postpone Hair Coloring: Avoid coloring or chemically treating your hair within 3-5 days of your appointment. These processes can sometimes irritate the scalp, and we want the area to be calm and healthy for your treatment.

Following these simple steps will help you have a smooth and effective PRP treatment. If you have any questions about your preparation, please don't hesitate to reach out to us!
